GETTING THINGS DONE: Rubio Kept Americans Employed During the Pandemic

Marco Rubio wrote and passed the Paycheck Protection Program, a forgivable loan program enabling employers to keep their employees on the payroll during the pandemic.

PPP enabled millions of small businesses to remain open during the pandemic at a time when blue states’ lockdown policies created tough choices for small business owners.

The program was called “the single most effective fiscal policy ever undertaken by the U.S. Government” by former director of the Congressional Budget Office Douglas Holtz-Eakin.

It saved 55 million jobs across the country, including 4.5 million in manufacturing businesses with an average business size of 20 employees.

In Florida alone, PPP saved six million jobs and over half a million small businesses. PPP saved 39,000 small businesses in Puerto Rico.
