MIAMI, FLA. — The South Florida Council of Fire Fighters (SFCFF) has endorsed Marco Rubio’s re-election to the Senate. 

“In working with you and your staff, our organization has enjoyed a decades-long history of your advocacy, dating back to your days on West Miami’s City Commission,” John O’Brien, SFCFF President said of the endorsement. “On occasions where we have not seen eye-to-eye, I can attest to your willingness to meet with our organization in an effort to better appreciate our perspective.”

“As discussed in our screening, I commended you for acting boldly in 2016 as an early and influential supporter of our Firefighter Cancer Registry Act. Though it did not pass during the 114th Congress, this landmark legislation aimed at protecting firefighters from cancer risks received unanimous support in the Senate just two-years later and was signed into law. Your early and influential support did not go unnoticed,” O’Brien continued. “Whenever asked, you have displayed a consistency in showing up for our members and we look forward to extending that open line of advocacy.”

When danger strikes, they run toward it to save lives, putting their own at risk,” said Marco Rubio. “In the Senate, I will continue to work to make sure our firefighters have the resources they need to do their job and the respect they deserve.”

Marco Rubio has the overwhelming support of first responders in his re-election. Rubio has been endorsed by a bipartisan group of 56 of Florida’s 66 elected sheriffs, the Florida Police Chief’s Association, the Florida Police Benevolent Association, the Florida Fraternal Order of Police, the National Association of Police Organizations and the International Union of Police Associations.
